We were sent this image today that was seen on a dating website in Australia. The meat and livestock industry often talk about how much they love and respect their animals, despite profiting from their deaths. This individual act shows horrific disrespect, and highlights the inherent cruelty and violence of the slaughterhouse industry.
But pointing the finger at individuals ignores the real issue here – that even when following ‘best practices’, there is no respectful way to kill an animal who does not want to die. No matter how she was killed, this sheep did not want to die for your dinner or ugg boots.
